About Chicago & Southern Air Lines

Originally Pacific Seaboard Air Lines. The owner, Carleton Putnam chased down an air mail contract that the government was offering and decided to move east in order to operate the Chicago to New Orleans air mail route. That's when he changed the name of the airline to Chicago & Southern Air Lines.

The airline merged with Delta Airlines in 1953.
