New York Air Apparel
In the fall of 1980, Texas Air Corporation created the country's second post-deregulation airline, New York Air. It was based at LaGuardia Airport and immediately went head to head with Eastern Airlines' shuttle service between the large cities on the East coast. New York Air operated for seven years until in 1987 they were tossed into the pot with other Texas Air airlines and merged into Continental Airlines. At the airline's peak, it employed over 2,000 people, flew 40 airplanes and served 13 cities primarily along the eastern seaboard.
